about

This is an album of songs I wrote in my twenties (hence the name). In 2002 (at the age of 33) I did new recordings of these songs for a CD that would come out on Music Abuse Records in 2003. During the 90s I was heavily influenced by low-fi and Indie-rock sounds of bands like Pavement and Built to Spill along with 70s power pop like one of my all time favorite bands, Big Star. On these recordings I took a very minimalistic approach to the recordings and also tuned down a full step from standard to give them more of a downer feel than they already had, even in the poppiest moments. After the CD came out I put a band together but we only played 2 shows. At that time it was weird for me to play quietly like that. I couldn't handle being that exposed on stage.
I'm going to put up more volumes from this project. I have many recordings from 1990 - 1999 that would make a nice companion to this.
